Tip n°1: Are you travelling by car?

Winter equipment is mandatory in Haute-Savoie from 1 November to 31 March:

  • For light vehicles, commercial vehicles and motorhomes: you must have snow chains or snow socks for at least 2 drive wheels or 4 winter tyres in your vehicle.
  • For coaches, buses and heavy goods vehicles without trailers or semi-trailers: you must have removable anti-skid devices for at least 2 drive wheels or at least 2 winter tyres on the steering wheels + at least 2 tyres on the drive wheels.

If you are not used to putting chains or socks on your vehicle, do not hesitate to practise at home before setting off.

For a peaceful holiday, don’t forget to take out insurance!

Assistance, repatriation, interrupted stay, cancellation… Whether for your holiday or the season, be sure to take out insurance because an accident can be costly! It is important to note that mountain rescue services are not free and are payable by the injured person. Taking out insurance is therefore an essential step before hitting the slopes.

Three insurance options are available:

Tip n°7 : Packing your suitcase for a skiing holiday: what should you remember?

Valise - Préparez votre séjour hiver 1920 x 900

Organising your skiing holiday inevitably involves the sacrosanct task of packing your bags. To make sure you don’t forget anything, remember to pack suitable clothing for extreme cold. The ‘three-layer’ system is very effective: it involves layering technical underwear, fleece clothing and then a waterproof jacket and trousers.

Gloves, a hat, a scarf and thick socks are also essential items. Don’t forget jumpers, hooded jackets, warm trousers and waterproof, non-slip shoes for your off-piste adventures.

Don’t forget your swimsuit so you can enjoy the aquatic centre and various spas!

In your toiletries bag, you will find sun cream suitable for your skin type, lip balm and moisturising cream to apply regularly to combat the combined effects of the cold, dry air and sun glare. Not forgetting the usual first aid essentials (aspirin, plasters, soothing cream, arnica) to treat any minor injuries on the slopes.
